Hi Amazonreaders,
I'm JasonMiles the co-author of Craft Business Power, and co-founder of LibertyJane Clothing. I want to take a minute to explain what you'll find in CraftBusiness Power.
This bookis written from experience. My wife and I started our craft business at ourkitchen table in February of 2008. She is the designer and I'm the marketer. Artist+ marketing = exciting growth. Together we built an exciting and successful craft oriented small business. You can see our work at libertyjaneclothing.com and pixiefaire.com.
Why readthis book?
Over the years we've worked with thousands of (frequently brilliant) crafters that don't have a marketing partner, they're missing that part of the equation. And an artisan without a marketer is most frequently a starving, frustrated, and unknown artist.
So this book is a 15-day step-by-step guide to working on the marketing related parts of a craft business written to help in these types of situations.
Each chapter includes the day's topic as well as an action item to complete and a Q&A where I interview Cinnamon about the topic. Cinnamon also wrote the introduction and in it she explains more about the relationship between her as a designer and me as a marketer.
Most of our pre-readers said the Q&A with Cinnamon was the part of the book they liked the most. It's a designers perspective on the marketing related topics. I think you'll probably really enjoy that part too.
All the best on your craft business,
Jason & Cinnamon Miles
Liberty Jane Clothing

- Reviewed in the United States on January 25, 2013Jason and Cinnamon Miles started their craft business like many crafters do. Cinnamon started making doll clothes for her daughter's American Girl Doll on her home sewing machine.
In January of 2008, Jason asked if he could list one of the doll outfits on eBay. This outfit sold for $39 and was the beginning of a successful crafts business that is based on doll clothes and patterns.
"Craft Business Power" explains how Liberty Jane Clothing has grown to include the following divisions;
*LibertyJaneClothing.Com - retail outlet for designer doll clothes.
*LibertyJanePatterns.Com - over 200,000 doll clothes patterns in pdf format.
*LibertyJanePartners.Com - the company encourages and assists sew-from-home entrepreneurs in using the patterns as the basis for their businesses.
*The Cutting Room - a membership site for partners and people interested in growing their craft business. It gives you direct access to Cinnamon and Jason as well as a whole set of additional benefits.
Mr. Miles shares detailed information about each step in the development of Liberty Jane Clothing. Jason is responsible for the financial and marketing side of the business. Cinnamon is responsible for the creative designs and production side of the business.
This book provides an in-depth case study of a crafts business that has achieved amazing success in just five years.
"Craft Business Power" provides "insider information" that is not available in many books about launching and running a crafts business. Many artists and crafters do not have the information or experience they need to promote and SELL their products. They concentrate on CREATING instead of marketing.
This book demonstrates exactly how a business can be built by combining marketing expertise and creativity. I highly recommend this book for anyone who wants to start a home crafts business. (The information in this book will be beneficial to ALL home business owners).
- Reviewed in the United States on August 4, 2013The strength of this book (in addition to it's easy to understand information and sound advice) is the way in which it gives you a daily "push in the right direction". It encourages you to stop ONLY dreaming about starting your online craft business and DO IT. Sometimes everything that must be done to "start up" a business can seem overwhelming. Imagine if you had a business mentor that stopped by your house daily to tell you what you needed to do that day to have your business up and running in fifteen days. Wouldn't that be such a motivation and help to you in making your goal a reality? That is exactly the approach that Jason and Cinnamon Miles use in this book. Read a chapter and get your "TO DO" list for your day. Every chapter brings you 1 day closer to the realization of your goal. A must read if you want to stop dreaming and actually get started.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 25, 2013I got this book free, so I am recommending according to that. I am not sure what the regular retail asking price is...so just my disclosure.
I never heard of their business, but it is a successful operating small business. They started from scratch small and their first year made $12k. Several years later they were making 6 figures on their way to a million dollar business. I share this because when I look for advice, I look for someone successfully doing it or who has successfully done it (not the arm-chair wanna-be's who know it all).
That being said, I found this a nice read. It is a combo of advice plus interview of them. They start from the beginning and tell you all the tips to succeed in order (pre-start: name choice, etc. to starting & launching to middle to continued success). They tell what they did & also recommend what tips would benefit YOU in your new business venture. They do briefly cover FB, Pintrest, Instagram, Website, etc but don't go deep. These are basic overviews for you to guide you along.
What would you pay to contact this owner to meet you for a *basic over-all* business coaching session overview? That being said, I think the book is worth at least a couple of bucks without thinking you were overcharged.
Best wishes in your venture!
- Reviewed in the United States on April 11, 2013This book is incredibly well written and very insightful, especially for anyone who has tried (and failed) to this point to successfully market their craft business. The advice on how to build a successful following so that once you do list an item on Ebay it gains a ton of bids in a very short time is well worth the price of the book by itself. Of course, they cover far more than just that. I would really very strongly urge anyone who has ever thought about trying to sell their art or their crafts and make a living at it to buy this book and follow the advice. They do focus a lot on selling through Amazon, but I am sure the advice would work equally well if transferred to Etsy or any other hand crafted goods site. I plan to use it to start marketing my artwork!
- Reviewed in the United States on January 20, 2013It's got a lot of attributes: It's easy to read; It's a Step-by-Step guide to starting a home-based business and It has a day-by-day format that is easy to follow.
If you have ever wondered how to get your small business idea off the ground, then you need this book - it's full of valuable information that provides you with the resources you need to get things going.
Jason shares the LJ journey from the beginning and includes the pitfalls to avoid as well as what worked for them. His background in Marketing lends credence to the lessons of the book. Cinnamon has a Q & A in each chapter that provides additional insights into how they built LJ into what it is today.
You won't regret taking a chance on this book - you might just jump-start your new career.

5.0 out of 5 stars Packed full of information
This book is a good resource for anyone getting started with handmade items. It will also benefit those who have been struggling to get sales. As a crocheter, I can relate to the amount of work that goes into a product. Marketing and business advice are also touched on within the pages.

5.0 out of 5 stars A book yo get your business off the groumd
I loved the practical examples, quotes and actual marketing theories and data. Jason takes you through his and cinnamons journey, you just want to cheer them on!
I also loved the break up with cinnamons thoughts at the end of chapter. Also loved the little antidote of Libby selling her very own clothes, super cute and so relatable. I feel like a lot of sellers feel like Libby did.
Loved the book!
